STEM Sisters Seal Spotters
Some of our year 10 female students have joined a program known as STEM Sisters. The program is designed to provide interested girls with female mentors who are working in STEM related fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). As part of the STEM Sisters initiative the girls are working in collaboration with Phillip Island Nature Park on seal research. The research task known as the “Seal Spotters” project, requires the girls to analyse drone images to find relationships between the number of adults and pups.
There are a LOT of images to analyse and we need the help of the students and the broader community to view the images and complete the identification process. If you would like to be a citizen scientist assisting the students with their research projects, please use a modern browser to visit one or both of the links below. After you watch the introductory video, please register and start spotting. We have two groups Wonthaggi 1 and Wonthaggi 2 , your prompt attention will assist the girls to complete their part of the research.
Thanks for your support!
