Athletics Sports 2019

Wednesday 27th March was a glorious day for Wonthaggi school athletics. With the 1500m event kicking off the day, a number of students recorded some very impressive times, Jack Opitz – 5min 4 sec, Baia Pugh – 5min 10sec.

The day saw some great performances by students. The event of the day being the open age relay vs staff relay. Staff team got off to a flying start by Mr Chan giving them a handy lead, having Mr Bramley finish strong down the stretch to claim bragging rights.

Tallying up of house points at the end of the day saw Berry boys with a 50 point lead on Garnham in second. With some thinking this might be the year that Garnham finally lose their title. However, Garnahm girls scored a whopping 626 points for Garnham to claim the shield once again. Followed closely by Berry, with Luke in 3rd and Lovett 4th.

Well done to all students who participated and came along on the day to support and cheer on their house mates. Good luck to those who have qualified for South Gippsland Aths on Friday 26th April. Age group winners of the day are seen below.
