South Gippsland Cross Country

This year Wonthaggi played host to the South Gippsland Cross Country event. On a cold, wet and windy day students battled through the conditions to compete in their 3km or 5km event. The day got off to a very quick start with Baia Pugh first overall to cross the finish line in the 12-13 year old boys and girls group. As the morning went on, a storm hit Wonthaggi resulting in a 45 minute delay of events to wait for the lightning and thunder to pass. Once it was safe to resume, the remaining 3km events set off followed by the 5km runners.

There were some great individual and team results for the day, with the following students all receiving a medallion:

Baia Pugh – 1st place 13 year old
Beau Ransom – 2nd place 13 year old
Laetitia Pugh – 1st place 14 year old
Toby Challinor – 2nd place 14 year old
Kiara Brusamarello – 3rd place 15 year old
Ashton Hewitson – 2nd place 15 year old

Congratulations to the Junior Boys (age 12-14) who placed first overall, winning the Championship Cup. Also well done to all students who competed on the day and represented WSC.

Good luck to those who have progressed through to the Gippsland round which is to be held on Thursday 13th June at Lardner Park.
