State Cross-Country World Challenge BBQ, Dudley Campus
On Monday 27 May and in blizzard conditions, the World Challenge crew raised $320 profit by cooking sausages for cold, hungry and exhausted runners from schools in the South Gippsland Division.
Even though it was freezing, and thunder and lightning threatened to cancel the event, the team managed to stay warm behind the BBQ and kept smiling all day. Evie Ferteis organised lolly bags, which proved very popular with the athletes; and Chad, Tom and Albie did a great job cooking the snags to perfection. Sinead and Maddy made posters to promote the event. Billie, Kaylee and Helen shared the job of event treasurer and managers, with Rhiannon and Ruby heading over to help with pack up later in the day. It was a real team effort!
The money raised will all go towards the community project in Vietnam later in the year.
The team of students involved would like to thank Darren Martin for helping to set up the BBQs, as well as Mr Owen for organising more bread when we ran out and Miss Sly for helping coordinate on the day.
