Junior Netball

On Friday 9th August the Junior Boys and Year 8 Girls netball teams travelled to Traralgon for the Gippsland finals. The girls took some time to warm up in their first game coming away with a five goal win against Nagle College. Game two saw the girls find their form and put on a great display and come away with a strong win against Lowanna College. The third and final game was set to be the decider for State qualifer. Cathloic College Sale proved too strong in the end to come away with a seven goal win.

The junior boys had a very intense first game against Lavalla CC. The boys gave away a lead early on so had some work to do in the second half. They slowly picked away at the score to make it a small margin going into the last quarter. Wonthaggi took the lead for the first time in the game with just under two minutes left. Some quick passages of play saw Lavalla score bringing the game to a draw. In order for the boys to progress through to the States they had to win their final game by a margin of at least 22 goals. Unfortunately the boys fell just short, winning by 18 goals to Warragul RC.

Well done to both teams on their efforts for the day and doing WSC proud, having come away with two runner up banners for the day. Big thanks to Jesse Boyd for driving the oldest bus one has seen in the horrible conditions.
