Year 11 VCAL Sugary Drinks Project
On Tuesday 6 August, boys from our Year 11 VCAL class were interviewed about a project they have been working on since late term one.
The boys have been working with Rachel Sands of Bass Coast Health, researching the health, personal and environmental impacts of consuming sugary drinks, and the benefits of drinking water.
After being provided lots of recent statistics, the last few weeks have been spent considering how they would answer questions on the actual day of the recorded interview.
While some are incredibly comfortable with the spotlight, others had to be encouraged to take the opportunity to answer one of the questions connected to the project, such as the history, how they have been engaged, what they’ve learnt about it, and what the spin off events will be connected to this project.
Inspired by Jack Connors who is drinking nothing but water for 12 weeks to advertise the benefits, the whole class have decided to organise an out of uniform day and a series of other fund-raising events to raise money for a worthy local cause. More details will be published soon.
I would like to thank the following inspirational, hard working and mature young men who have risen to the challenge of this interview: Angus Cox, Charlie Cook, Rory Gow, Jack Connors and Cade Cook.
On behalf of Rachel and I, we are incredibly proud of what has been achieved by the students of Wonthaggi Secondary College.
