HPV Excursion to Monash Wind Tunnel
Yesterday was a sensational day for our HPV team. 10 students and 3 staff went to Monash University where Monash Human Power had arranged for a tour, activities as well as analysis of how effective our vehicle’s aerodynamics were through the use of the wind tunnel.
Some cool facts:
Monash wind tunnel is the largest in the southern hemisphere.
The tunnel uses up to 1.4 million watts of electricity
It is currently booked out until the middle of next year, primarily due to commercial uses, so we were very fortunate to be able to have this opportunity
This was an excellent opportunity for practical learning and we were very surprised by some of the results.
The HPV team is always looking for new members. They meet at McBride after school on Friday. Please feel free to talk with Mr Harris, Alistair Lowe, Jodi Fokkens or one of the current team members to find out more.
