Very exciting to have students visited by Premier Daniel Andrews and MP for Bass, Jordan Crugnale, at our McKenzie St Campus on the 7th June 2019.
On Thursday 33 students from Wonthaggi Secondary College took on the hills at Lardner park to compete in the Gippsland Region Cross Country. The day started out bitterly cold, however the sun soon came out and conditions proved perfect for running.
It was that time of the year again. In Week 3 of Term 2, 2019, students at Wonthaggi Secondary College participated in a range of fun activities to celebrate the school’s annual Asia Week.
The girls played a fast-paced brand of team footy and the coaching staff gave everyone an opportunity to get involved. WSC had nine different goal scorers on the day with Felicity Tack kicking four. Such was WSC’s dominance that even Sid “I only play backline” Mullins managed to put one through the big sticks!
On Tuesday 4th of June our Intermediate and Senior Boys and Girls soccer teams travelled to Mary MacKillop College and Korumburra to partake in the South Gippsland Division soccer competition.
Wonthaggi Secondary College’s new McKenzie St Campus is progressing really well! We can’t wait to share this amazing facility with everyone at the start of the 2020 school year.

This year Wonthaggi played host to the South Gippsland Cross Country event. On a cold, wet and windy day students battled through the conditions to compete in their 3km or 5km event.
The intermediate boy’s netball team travelled to Leongatha on 30th April to compete in some really strong competition against other South Gippsland schools.
On Friday 10th May the WSC surfing team competed at the State Finals at Smiths Beach. It was the first year for a long time the competition was held on Phillip Island.
On Thursday May 9th, students ran a sausage sizzle at the Dudley Campus School Cross-Country event. Students prepared in advance by sourcing sausages from Woolworths and donated bread from Woolworths, as well as spreading the word about the event.
On April 25th our student leaders participated in Anzac Day ceremonies across the Bass Coast Region, at Wonthaggi Inverloch Cowes and Bass. Our school was very proud of its leaders’ involvement in these important ceremonies, with the number of young people attending, increasing every year.
