Very exciting to have students visited by Premier Daniel Andrews and MP for Bass, Jordan Crugnale, at our McKenzie St Campus on the 7th June 2019.
On Thursday 33 students from Wonthaggi Secondary College took on the hills at Lardner park to compete in the Gippsland Region Cross Country. The day started out bitterly cold, however the sun soon came out and conditions proved perfect for running.
On Tuesday 4th of June our Intermediate and Senior Boys and Girls soccer teams travelled to Mary MacKillop College and Korumburra to partake in the South Gippsland Division soccer competition.
Wonthaggi Secondary College’s new McKenzie St Campus is progressing really well! We can’t wait to share this amazing facility with everyone at the start of the 2020 school year.
On Friday 10th May the WSC surfing team competed at the State Finals at Smiths Beach. It was the first year for a long time the competition was held on Phillip Island.
On Monday 13th May, the Senior class visited the Heidelberg and Preston Campuses of Melbourne Polytechnic. Starting the tour was a visit of the Heidelberg Campus, specialising in the areas of Electrical, Facbrication, Plumbing and Carpentry.
On Friday 10th of May, three teams made their way to Morwell for the Gippsland volleyball finals. The intermediate boys were against some well trained teams to lose all three of their games. The intermediate girls took a bit to warm up in their first game going down in the first set to Lakes Entrance SC.
On the 29th April and the 2nd May, the Senior VCAL class and the first of two Year 11 VCAL classes, with thanks to Karena Kerr from LLEN, took part in the Watersure OHS Training.
The weather was great and students were even better! We travelled to Sale to show case our swimming talents with a team of over 25 students. Everyone gave it their best and should be proud of their efforts to progress this far.
Melbourne Gun Club hosted the Yarra Valley Clay Target school shoot on Thursday the 2nd March. Wonthaggi was well represented with 13 students participating from Year 8 to Year 12.
Wednesday 27th March was a glorious day for Wonthaggi school athletics. With the 1500m event kicking off the day, a number of students recorded some very impressive times, Jack Opitz – 5min 4 sec, Baia Pugh – 5min 10sec.
On the 4th, 5th and 6th of March, a record-breaking number of Year 7 students from Wonthaggi Secondary College’s Dudley campus attended their annual Year 7 camp at the Phillip Island Adventure Resort. We departed from school at 9.30am on a sunny Monday morning, prepared for all weather and ready for a fun-filled three days on camp.
