Every year, new Australian book for youth are judged in several categories for their literary merit and suitability for junior students. Prizes to the authors are awarded in several categories. Wonthaggi Secondary College Dudley Campus promotes awareness of these award winning books by making special presentations in the library during English classes and inviting students to read these books.
Last thursday, our year 7 students were able to experience an entire day celebrating indigenous culture through various activities throughout the day.
On the 3rd of August the northern side of the Dudley campus library was transformed in to a dining hall to celebrate the reading efforts of our year 7 students. The top readers for the term were awarded with a hot chip lunch and fresh fruit to acknowledge their commitment to developing their reading skills.
Scot Gardner once again charmed the year 9 students of Wonthaggi Secondary College, dazzling everyone with his stories and bringing out the creative spirit in our students.

Our Year 11 Biology students take to the lab to take a closer look at the anatomy of frogs. Unlike the kind of scenes you see in movies, no one felt queasy and every had a great learning experience and a lot of fun.
Hot chips on a cold day certainly hit the mark for our Year 7 students who love reading. These students were our best recorded readers for year 7, in Semester 1 and were rewarded with a chip lunch.
