Overview of Unit 3 and Unit 4
Unit 3 and Unit 4 are divided into three sections
- Written work – 20% (2 x SAC)
- End of year exam – 30%
- Practical work 50% – Folio and body of final artworks. (at least 1 final artwork Unit 3 and at least 1 final artwork Unit 4)
AR033 UNIT 3: ARTWORKS, IDEAS AND VALUES
Unit 3 – Outcome 1
Students continue to gain experience in the interpretation, analysis and comparison of artworks using the 4 Analytical Frameworks outlined in Unit 1 & 2, with a focus on developing a knowledge of artworks produced before and since 1990.
AR034 UNIT 4: ARTWORKS, IDEAS AND VIEWPOINTS
Unit 4 – Outcome 1
Students will develop the ability to examine, analyse and discuss art ideas and their related issues. Using a range of resources, artists, artworks and viewpoints students will learn to develop their own viewpoints on art related issues.
Units 3 & 4 – Outcome 2
Students will apply imagination and creativity to develop their ideas through the art process and visual language. Their art making will be supported by investigation, exploration and the application of a variety of materials, techniques and processes. Throughout Unit 3 and 4 you will progressively develop a single body of work to explore personal ideas or concepts. Documentation and analysis of the students practice throughout the art process will be carried out in their visual diaries. At least one artwork must be completed during Unit 3 and at least one artwork must be completed at the end of Unit 4.
Assessment: You must pass both the practical and the written work to pass overall.
